Learn to Meditate



Who can join?

Classes are open to all students regardless of Yoga or meditation experience
Family yoga: children between the ages 2-11 are welcome and must always be accompanied by
an responsible adult overt the age of 18.

When to start?

You can join any time. The classes are offered for extended period of times.
We invite people of all faiths, orientations and traditions into our classes.
Our mantras are positive affirmation of peace that wish health, happiness and harmony for the
individual, society and for universe as a whole. We chant syllables such as A, U, M and AUM for
relaxation and soothing vibrations. We consider AUM as a simple syllable that helps in calming
of the mind.

General Instructions

  • Wear loose-fitting cloths that you can move easily in.
  • Avoid big buttons or zippers that may be uncomfortable during poses.
  • It helps to have a non-judgmental attitude.
  • Help the organizers if chairs etc. need to be cleared or some small cleanup needs to be
  • Take foot wear off outside of the class.
  • Arrive 5 minutes early.
  • Please do not eat during class.
  • Turn your cell phones off. Take care not to disturb the class.

Health-related instructions:

  • Yoga is preferably done with empty stomach. A light snack is okay if needed. Wear
    comfortable clothing.
  • Bring a yoga mat or blanket.
  • Women should avoid inverting poses or strenuous poses during their menstrual cycle.
  • People with back pain and hypertension should minimize their forward bending and any
    extreme poses.

Instructions while doing the poses:

  • Stop holding a pose and come to any relaxation pose if you experience any pain /
  • Have normal breathing all through. Breathe through the nose. Don’t hold your breath
    unless explicitly instructed to do so.
